Introducing the Diecast Market!

The Hallsguide Diecast Market is now live!  You can now buy and sell Hot Wheels and other diecast brands on our new auction site.  The Diecast Market is a cheaper alternative to Ebay and other online auctions.

For sellers, basic listings are always free.  You can list your auctions at no risk to you.  Diecast Market only charges for premium features and a 5% sell commission (vs. 9% on Ebay).  That means there is no risk to listing your auctions – if it doesn’t sell, you don’t pay (premium listings excluded).  As a bonus, through the month of June, there will be NO commissions or fees for premium features.  That means you can sell for no cost and try out all of the premium features.

Diecast Market features auctions and a “Buy Now” format so you can auction your items off to the  highest bidder or set a fixed price and have your own storefront in the Market.

For buyers, Diecast Market offers the advantage of great bargains on diecast collectibles.  With the free listings and low seller’s commission, sellers won’t have to pass Ebay’s fees and commissions on to you in the form of high shipping and handling costs.

Sign up now! – The first 10 sellers to register and list 5 items on the auction will receive a $10 credit towards future listings.

If you have any questions, we have a Diecast Market section on our forum.

Diecast Spotlight: 2010 Hot Auction Bugatti Veyron 2

As I was updating prices on the 2010 Hot Wheels Series, I came across an anomaly.  The Hot Auction Bugatti Veyron has been consistently selling for Super Treasure Hunt-like prices.  It has been found in two variations, a satin blue which has been selling for an average of $12.00 and the Wal-Mart exclusive satin red which has been going for an average of $20.00.

I haven’t seen a real good explanation yet for why this car is selling for so much but you can join the discussion here on our forum.

Maybe these were a short run, although some members of our forum report finding a few of them.  It could be a really popular casting or there could be a lot of speculation about the future value of this model.  Only time will tell if it can hold it’s value or possibly increase as some speculators are betting on.  One thing is sure, it’s been on the market for a few months and held it’s value well past the initial week or two of high demand that many new releases seem to go through.

Hallsguide News 1

You will find a lot of new additions to our price guides today.  The 2011 Series should have most of the variations released so far, and over 100 pictures have been added to the 2011 price guides.

In other news, the 2011 New Model ’69 COPO Corvette with the blue body and white interior that I covered in one of our Diecast Spotlight features has seen an increase in value.  That variation was valued at $40 at the time of the article, and has increased to $70 in just a few weeks.  It seems to be a very hard to find variation and there haven’t been many reports of finding them on the shelves or local diecast shows.

If you haven’t done so already, there are a few ways to join our collecting community.  You will find a wealth of information and friendly collectors who are always happy to help out a fellow diecast enthusiast.  Join our Facebook Group to meet other Hallsguide collectors and to keep up with the latest news from Hallsguide.  Follow us on Twitter to get up-to-the-minute notifications of new articles, pictures, price guide updates, and more.  You can also join the hundreds of other collectors on our Message Boards as they discuss collecting, show off their lastest finds, give customizing tips, make trades, and just talk about life in general.

We are glad you found Hallsguide.com and we hope you make us your online diecast collecting home.

Diecast Spotlight: #816 Ferarri 308 copper w/black interior

One of my all-time favorite Hot Wheels variations from my early days of collecting was Collector Number 816 – Ferarri 308 in copper with the black interior.  There were a few variations of this release, the one mentioned above, Copper with tan interior and 5 spoke wheels, Copper with tan interior and five-hole wheels, and a red version.  Most of the variations average $2-3 on the secondary market, while the black interior version goes for around $30.  I have seen few of the copper w/black interior on Ebay and none at local shows which leads me to believe it may be more rare than orginally estimated.

What will the next one go for when it hits Ebay again?
