First Look: DW-1

In memory of IndyCar racer, Dan Wheldon, Hot Wheels has released a special version of 2012 New Model #42.  The original release was the 2011 IndyCar Oval Course Race Car which comes in both black and white versions.  Now there is special edition named DW-1 and it features a maroon and white paintjob, Dan Wheldon tampos and the British flag, and Real Rider wheels with rubber tires.

Dan Wheldon was the winner of the Indianapolis 500 in both 2005 and 2011.  He died in an accident at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in October 0f 2011 at the age of 33.  Dan Wheldon was also a guest star in the voice cast for the TV series Hot Wheels Battle Force 5.

While the regular issue of the 2011 IndyCar Oval Course Race Car sells on the secondary market for up to $2, the DW-1 version can bring as much as $10.  The DW-1 is much harder to find than the regular issue and is highly sought after by collectors.
